“Tai Kwun” – Hong Kong’s largest heritage and conservation project opens
The opening ceremony for “Tai Kwun”, the Hong Kong’s largest heritage and conservation project, was held on 25 May 2018 which symbolised a new milestone for heritage revitalisation in Hong Kong.
Hsin Chong Aster is pleased to participate in the revitalization project by providing MVAC, plumbing and drainage as well as fire services systems installation for the facility.
“Tai Kwun” is situated at the restored Central Police Station compound. The 13,600 square metre site comprises 16 historic buildings, including 3 declared monuments (Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison) and 2 new auditoriums.
The 2 new auditoriums are also serving as the heart of the MVAC system, including 3 sets of water-cooled chillers with a total cooling capacity of 1,600 TR to supply the entire complex.
“Tai Kwun” is developed as a Hong Kong’s historic and artistic landmark. The revitalisation project applied the highest standards of heritage conservation, integrating with adaptive reuse of the site.
